As a person who has fond memories of the television series "Private Benjamin'. This saddens me. After all, I remember one of the bright spots during my Army Training was watching the movie, 'Private Benjamin'. I remember it felt so good to laugh about what for all too many us, including myself, our own reality.
This also includes fond memories of her and Martin Sheen in the Forth Wiseman. Even though she was in many other things, too many for this blogger to even begin to list.

After all, even my sons have fond memories of 'Mrs. Peacock' of Clue.

Two well blow-outs on natural gas rigs in the Gulf of Mexico in two weeks? This is outrageous!

After a well blow-out on Tuesday, a fire started and continues to burn out-of-control just 60 miles from the Louisiana shore. The good news is that the 44 crew members were all safely evacuated. The bad news is that natural gas continues to leak from the well, firefighting vessels have not been able to get close enough to put out the fire ¹, and the well has partially collapsed ².

Natural gas should not play a role in our country's energy future. As mothers, we stand with Sybrina Fulton. We stand for advancing gun safety policies, for ending racial profiling, and for eliminating dangerous laws, like the "stand your ground" law in Florida, all of which contributed to Trayvon Martin's untimely death at age 17.

In February of 2012, George Zimmerman admittedly followed Trayvon Martin, even after the authorities told him not to, and then killed the 17 year old. It took 45 days for Sanford, Florida police to arrest Zimmerman — and only 16 hours for jurors to acquit him of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

We were shocked with this verdict, especially given that "[m]anslaughter, which under Florida law is typically added as a lesser charge if either side requests it, was a lower bar. The appalling reality is that there are huge racial disparities within our criminal justice system.  According to an Urban Institute study, when white shooters kill black victims, 34 percent of the resulting homicides are deemed justifiable, while only 3 percent of deaths are ruled justifiable when the shooter is black and the victim is white. Last year, tens of thousands of MomsRising members joined millions of people in an outpouring of support for Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton. [3] We urged the State of Florida to arrest and charge Trayvon's killer, and also urged the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to intervene and investigate the case. That massive demand for justice led to the eventual arrest and indictment of the admitted killer, George Zimmerman. Since then, the DOJ has closely monitored the state's case against Zimmerman, and federal civil rights charges can still be brought against him. 

We need to keep the pressure on.  Our voices have made a difference in the past and when the DOJ takes action, justice is possible. We saw this in 2011, when the DOJ successfully prosecuted and convicted the killers of two unarmed men during the aftermath of Katrina. Vigilante Justice is Not Self-Defense; End "Stand Your Ground" Laws Everywhere

Dear Readers, let us not merely get angry about the lie and deception of so-called 'Voter Fraud' let us take action against it, before the Republicans can steal yet another election. 

That is why I am passing on this e-mail and petition for your consideration.

Republicans love to point to “voter fraud” to justify their efforts to restrict voting rights. To hear them tell it, there are hoards of walking dead “zombie voters” out there casting ballots as part of an elaborate Democratic voter fraud conspiracy.

So when South Carolina’s Republican governor Nikki Haley ordered her State Law Enforcement Division to turn up all the instances of voter fraud in her state guess what they found?

Zero cases of voter fraud. Nada. Zilch.

That’s right. After Governor Haley spent millions of taxpayer dollars trying to prove that voter fraud exists, her law enforcement division couldn’t find a single recent instance of fraud.

We didn’t need a multi-million dollar report to tell us that voter fraud was a myth perpetuated by Republicans for their own political gain, but these inconvenient facts aren’t going to change their cynical strategy.

According to the New York Times, “State officials across the South are aggressively moving ahead with new laws requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls after the Supreme Court decision striking down a portion of the Voting Rights Act.”

We have to stop “photo ID” and other voter suppression laws from taking effect, before thousands of Democratic-leaning voters are effectively disenfranchised.

Add your name to demand that Governor Haley finally admit that "widespread voter fraud" is nothing more than a politically convenient myth.

It’s not just about requiring voters to obtain new government IDs that are difficult to obtain and cost money in many cases—Republican governors are also closing early voting windows, changing registration laws, and ramming through other barriers to voting.

The recent Supreme Court decision only makes it more urgent that we act now, before it’s too late.
