We have just started the year 2014. So let us not return to 1814 or the Middle Ages. Debtor's Prison is barbaric and expensive. This must be stopped, before it even starts--that is why I am sharing this Care2 petition, which is most worthy of support. Any one who has read Charles Dickens knows and understands the immorality of Debtors Prison--It only benefits the rich.
Most especially in modern America, where in the United States, more and more prisons are privately owned and operated at profit. The last thing we need to do is to give these Greedy Corporations more lives to control and more money for doing so. Even those of the Middle Ages would call this Barbaric.
