Another Cause Worthy of Support>>>>

I am passing on this email in support of this excellent cause, because here in the United States of America, We do have Freedom of Religion--We Are a Secular Nation, We Were Always A Secular Nation and We Shall Continue to Be a Secular Nation. After all, today the majority of U.S. Citizens are Christian, tomorrow--who knows. If we start enforcing Christian Doctrine today, what Doctrine will be enforced tomorrow?? This is Why we must stay a Secular Nation.

Take Action! Tell Congress Not to Send Federal Funds to Religious Schools

Keep Religious Institutions Out of the Public Piggy Bank!

The Religious Right wants billions of dollars of federal education funds to line the pockets of private religious schools. Senator Alexander (R-TN) and Rep. Messer (R-IN-06) introduced the “Scholarships for Kids Act” redirecting $24 billion in federal education funds to private schools, including religious schools.  Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) introduced the Creating Hope and Opportunity for Individuals and Communities through Education, or “CHOICE Act
” which redirects an additional $11 billion to private and religious schools.
Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black wrote "The 'establishment of religion' clause of the First Amendment means at least this… No tax in any amount, large or small, can be levied to support any religious activities or institutions.” Vouchers also infringe on one of the most dearly held principles of religious freedom, that the government should not compel any citizen to support a religion with which he or she disagrees, or even a religion with which he or she does agree.

Voucher programs, like those proposed by these bills, violate these central tenets of our Constitution: they use taxpayer money to fund religious education. Tell Congress this is unacceptable.
Write Your Senator and Representative!

Stand up against public funded religious education! Tell your Senator and Representative that public funds should never support religious schools.

DEAR READERS,

I am sharing this email with the hope and prayer that you too will join me in the fight for Marriage Equality. As a Heterosexual Woman, I was free to marry the man that I loved, who am I to stop anyone else from marrying the person whom they love. I hope and pray that you agree with me and will support this worth while cause>>>>>

Breaking news: A Federal judge has struck down a Texas ban on same-sex marriage. Click here for more, and then click below to take action against another Texan -- Senator Ted Cruz -- who is trying to reverse progress on this front.
Fight back against Ted Cruz's attack on marriage equality
That's right, as if shutting down the government and costing our economy $24 billion wasn't enough, Ted Cruz has found a whole new way to be a (fill in the blank):
He's just introduced a bill (S.2024) that would completely ban federal marriage equality, and roll back progress that has been made.
Speak out forcefully on this one -- the battle for equality is far from over, so don't be complacent.
Don't let Cruz's attack succeed.

Take action now!

Dear Readers. I am passing on this email>>>

because funds need to be raised by February 28, 2014. I have donate and as a firm believer in Crowd funding, I believe with your help we can do more to assist the good Reverend  Sally Bingham.

Big Polluters have one thing and only one thing on their minds – the bottom line. They’re not thinking about the people, plants and animals of North Carolina and West Virginia.

Big Polluters have one thing and only one thing on their minds – the bottom line.
They’re not thinking about the people, plants and animals of North Carolina and West Virginia that are suffering from disastrous coal ash and chemical spills into their rivers and drinking water. They’re too blinded by dollar signs to do something about the horrific, long-term effects of carbon pollution on Creation and our families.
The good news? The EPA’s first-ever standards for carbon pollution from new power plants would make new plants at least 60% cleaner than today’s average coal plant. It will move us away from coal and toward cleaner, modern technology.
The bad news? The worst offenders will use Congress to fight tooth and nail to block these clean air safeguards.
We’ve got to stand up to the polluters and get Congress to pass these critical EPA standards for the sake of Creation. Will you make sure IPL is ready by helping us reach our goal of $8,500 by February 28?
You can be sure that Big Oil and Big Coal are getting ready to do what they’re best at: spending gobs of money to try to drown out our voices.
But we will be heard.
This is time to show just what a network of the faithful can do protect Creation.
Dirty polluters want to dismantle the EPA and prevent any regulation that would limit carbon pollution – and it’s up to us to stop them.
With only a few days to go, we still have $5,912 to raise to meet our goal of $8,500. Can you give $5 or more today to ensure that we have the resources necessary to protect Creation from Big Polluters?
Thank you for helping us continue to tell the truth about carbon pollution.

IN SUPPORT OF CONTINUING TO GROW THE ECONOMY>>>>>

I am passing this on in support of the Economy>>>>

Minimum Wage -- Why does it matter?
You've heard the recent talk from both sides regarding raising the minimum wage.  So what's the big deal?

Did you know that the average age of someone earning the minimum wage is 35?  That a full-time employee earning the minimum wage takes home only $14,500 annually?  Or that the federal minimum wage would be $10.74 today if it had been tied to inflation?

Next week ADA organizers will be focusing on actions in their communities to help educate the public and elected officials about the need to raise the minimum wage.  Check out this excellent article, The Case for a Higher Minimum Wage, to learn more about why this is a critical step that we need to take as a nation to help workers, and our economy prosper.

How and Where to Find the Best Talent

As the job market grows with more and more prospects, now's the perfect time for small business owners to go fishing for new talent. But with the large number of online resources available for recruiters, where should they go to find the best candidates?
A recent study highlights new trends among job seekers and, among other revelations, finds that:
  • 33% of U.S. workers change jobs at least every 5 years
  • 43% of job seekers use mobile devices to find opportunities
  • 21% have found their favorite jobs through a social network

After all, the more people paying into the economy, instead of collecting from--the better it is for us all--WE NEED MORE WIN-WIN-WIN

The newest numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) confirm that more work needs to be done to address our fiscal challenges.
Although some are touting the fact that deficits will fall this year and next, they are coming down from levels not seen since the end of World War II and will begin growing again within two years. CBO also forecasts that deficits will still be nearly $1.7 trillion larger over the next decade compared to previous projections, despite the short-term improvements.
We cannot let up in getting deficits and debt under control. In fact, we need to renew our efforts. That’s why I ask that you strongly encourage your friends and family to sign The Citizen’s Petition to Fix the Debt. A surge of support will show policymakers we aren’t ready to let them off the hook.
Share the Citizen’s Petition to Fix the Debt today with friends and family and encourage their support. Share the link, tell them why you signed the petition in the first place and that the debt is still a problem that must be addressed.
CBO projects public debt will reach 79 percent of the economy in 2024, which is more than double the historical average in the post-war era, and will continue on an upward trajectory thereafter. CBO also warns that our large and growing levels of debt could harm the economy.
Check out more highlights of the CBO study and you will see that we must continue the fight to Fix the Debt.

In Support of>>>>>>

Dear Reader;
I am passing on this e-mail as my way of supporting Congress Person Nancy Pelosi>>>

Last Friday, we learned that the centrist New Democrat Coalition is whipping House Democrats on fast track trade authority to clear the way for passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Just when we thought that Congress was shying away from Fast Track, pro-corporate Democrats are jumping into action, hoping to scare already-nervous Democrats facing tough re-election fights into putting their donors' interests over the needs of their constituents.
The New Democrat Coalition knows what we've always known: the real game on the TPP isn't in the Senate, it is in the House. As Jim Dean wrote to our members below, it's great that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has held firm against unrelenting pressure to bring Fast Track to a vote. However, if Democratic leadership in the House doesn't have Reid's back the TPP -- with all of its secret corporate giveaways -- could become the law of the land.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi may be the only thing standing between us and the TPP. Tell her that now is the time -- speak out against Fast Track and the TPP today.
Thank you for fighting unchecked corporate power,

IN SUPPORT OF AN IMPORTANT CAUSE>>

>>I am passing on this email as a way of supporting it

PCCC co-founder Adam Green joins Leader Nancy Pelosi, Rep. John Sarbanes, Rep. John Larson and allies to launch Government By The People Act.
Reduce the influence of big-money donors!
Dear Readers, pleas support>>>
Since launching just 24 hours ago, the Government By The People Act has gained great media attention:
WASHINGTON POST OP-ED: "Reverse the Grievous Error of Citizens United"
HUFFINGTON POST: "Democrats Rally Behind Bill to Fight Big Money"
POLITICO: "New Bill Would Match Donations to House Candidates."
While national media gives our campaign big momentum, members of Congress care most about whether their constituents are supportive back home.
Show your member of Congress you support reform by signing on as a citizen co-sponsor of the Government By The People Act.
More huge news: The bill already has 130 original co-sponsors -- more than any other campaign finance reform bill in recent history!
When Members of Congress stand up for the people against big-money influence, we need to show we stand by them.
Sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the Government By The People Act -- click here!
We'll inform the media on the growing support -- and plan phone calls, events, and other activism -- to keep momentum for this bill strong.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

In Support of Consumer's Report and In Support of ObamaCare>>

>>> I am passing on this email>>>>>Thank God, I am now covered and more importantly my younger son is also now covered.
Something AMAZING has happened. People with pre-existing conditions are getting insurance to pay for the care they need.
But it has been a rocky road. There's only a few more weeks for people to enroll (deadline is March 31st) and millions are confused or discouraged. Many people who will save money and get better coverage aren't even trying to enroll.
Consumer Reports -- one of the nation's most trusted brands -- is pitching in to get "just the facts" to the people who need them with a simple online tool.
But Consumer Reports needs your help.
Check out the Consumer Reports' HealthLawHelper.org for yourself, then share it with everyone you think might need to enroll by March 31st!
HealthLawHelper.org gives you the factual information you need about the new health insurance system so that you can make the changes work for you.
People are starting to enroll, but all the partisan bickering and finger pointing has taken its toll. Millions more could enroll by March 31st, and they will do just that if they understand exactly how the new system benefits them.
Consumer Reports put its policy and insurance experts together with geeks and engineers to produce a new kind of information tool. Simple to read and easy to use on phones, tablets and computers.
Then they made it easy to input some personal data, but none of the personal data is retained -- privacy first! You get a personalized look at the impact the new law may have on you.
Help make sure health reform is here to stay -- share HealthLawHelper.org with friends and family.
The more people who enroll, the harder it will be to roll back these new protections. So please take a check out HealthLawHelper.org and then circulate it to friends and family. Share it on Facebook. Forward this email. Use Twitter. Every new enrollee makes the new health care system stronger.
          Sincerely,
DeAnn Friedholm, Consumers Union
