Hi Barbara, The people have voted and Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, MO has been chosen as America's Favorite Animal Shelter. Congratulations Joplin Humane! Your shelter will receive $15,000. Here's what people are saying about this wonderful shelter: This shelter is working so hard to find loving homes for the animals that were left without homes after the tornadoes. They have come up with unique ways to find families for these beautiful creatures, and they deserve these funds to help continue their efforts. The Humane Society of Joplin has rescued many animals and helped reunite them with their families. Even in the wake of the recent tornado, the staff has not stopped helping other pets reach the safety of their homes. The second place winner is Lucky Dog Rescue in Meridian, MS. Lucky Dog Rescue will receive $7,000 for their shelter. Here's what people are saying about this wonderful shelter: I am sitting here with tears in my eyes after reading the Lucky Dog blog with the various rescue stories. Lucky Dog has been there for so many unwanted and unloved dogs, and I want to do what I can to support the Rescue by voting for them. The third place winner is Wild Heart Ranch Wildlife Rescue in Claremore, OK. Wild Heart Ranch will receive $3,000. Here's what people are saying about this wonderful shelter: Wild Heart Ranch is staffed by highly motivated, caring and compassionate people who truly want to protect all God's creatures. The determination and work ethic displayed by this wildlife rescue group is second to none. They deserve recognition and some financial breathing room. Animal welfare groups estimate that at least six to eight million cats and dogs enter animal shelters every year, and half of them are euthanized because there is no one to adopt them. All of these animals deserve a loving home - and the rescues and shelters that save them need our support. One day, this house will have a cat, again.  After all, I miss that cat-atude, Only a cat, no matter how small, can sit up, even if it's only the floor, with regally royal attitude. One can, almost 'hear' his/her thoughts--such as--"What do you mean I am a wanna be lion--it's the lion who wishing he was ME."
