Wal-Mart Holds a Holiday Food Drive – For its Own Employees


As the holidays roll closer, a number of companies will be looking for ways to help those who are less fortunate. Some will raise money for charities, others will solicit donations of toys or warm clothes for children. Wal-Mart, the mega retailer that consistently ranks in the top first or second slot among Fortune 500 companies, is also doing something for those in need, with one store in Canton, Ohio, seeking food to help those who can’t afford the groceries for a full Thanksgiving meal.
The difference? They are doing it for their own employees.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Canton store is having a food drive, with tubs located in the employee break room to collect items for other associates working at the location. “Please Donate Food Items Here, so Associates in Need Can Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner,” says a sign located by the bins.... Female Entrepreneurs on the Rise

A recent study shows that one demographic leads all others in recent economic growth.
The stagnant American economy of the early 2000s had one bright spot, and what crippled U.S. business only strengthened the female entrepreneur:
  • Women-owned businesses now account for 29% of all U.S. businesses
  • Since 2007, women-owned businesses have added about 175,000 jobs
  • The number of businesses owned by minority women has more than doubled since 1997

If Justin Beiber can launch a career on Youtube, you can certainly boost sales by doing the same thing. A new study shows that 56 percent of survey participants watch how-to videos. Use videos to demonstrate how to use your products and services, or teach viewers how to solve a problem. Videos could make you a star in your customers' eyes.

 As I sit here, waiting to see how I did on my latest Accounting Exam--the bottom line is every thing balanced. So I am hoping that that was a good sign that I did well. I am hoping and praying to do well enough to prove to my harsher critics that I am indeed smarter than I look.
