Week In Review---Part 1

I meant to blog several times, but then, lost my nerve.

Mandela and Environmental Justice:

When you have an activist in the highest office of the land

It was March 24, 1995. Nelson Mandela had been President for just under a year. That night, he was speaking at an event at the Engen Refinery in South Durban. As his motorcade drew close to the oil refinery’s gate, a group of people were protesting. He did not ask the driver to speed up, or to pull down the shades. Instead, he stopped his whole entourage, got out of his car and said to his security team, “These are my people. Please stand aside. I want to listen to my people!”.... I was going to write so much, but then, I remembered that it was all in hindsight. After all, sadly at the time I was busy with other things than world politics. I wish I was smart enough to have paid more attention to this great man when he was alive and doing--but now it is for us the living to continue the work that the great people have started---the Environment--OUR PLANET Is worth Saving. THIS IS NOT JUSTICE AT ALL!!! THE LEGAL DRINKING AGE IS 21--THE 16 YEAR OLD GOT DRUNK AND COMMITTED MURDER WITH THE WEAPON OF CHOICE BEING A CAR. Then, Again, This Did Happen in Texas where the Religious Right and the Republicans Rule---if only one of those people were a pregnant woman and at least one of those people the child that she was expecting then their life would have been worth fighting for---if only---NOT!!!! I was looking for a petition--After all, with a Gross INJUSTICE LIKE ^^^^ I figured that there would be many calls for Justice and Calls for the Judge's Impeachment, but sadly, I found this instead>>>> Conservatives Argue First Amendment Only Protects Christians        Kit - 15 hours ago - examiner.com In a bizarre bit of Orwellian double speak, Christian conservatives argue that "religion," when used by the founding fathers, really means "Christianity," and thus the First Amendment only applies to Christians. With any luck and a wing and a prayer the video will be watchable--as for what is said--SAY WHAT!!!! THAT IS EXACTLY WHY WE NEED TO KEEP THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THE SECULAR NATION THAT OUR FOUNDING FATHERS FORMED--THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE--THE CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS ARE THE DOCUMENTS THAT GOVERN OUR NATION---WE ADD ONE HOLY BOOK THEN WE MUST ALL ALL HOLY BOOKS. After all, the First Amendment is for All Citizens no matter what their beliefs are--even if it is only that they will have one more beer or coffee or whatever.   This Christian Exceptionalism is the Cancer that can destroy the Body of Christ which is why it must end--This is why we find so few young adults in churches.  Our young people are not this narrow-minded and bigoted, they are intolerant of haters, though, which is why many have left churches. By the way, I am sorry that there is no petition--at least, one that I found--for those who could and did find one--please pass it on to me--THANK YOU!
