Tell Google: Don't fund evil!

Dear Barbara, I started my own campaign on CREDO's new site that allows activists to start their own petitions. My petition, which is to Google CEO Larry Page, asks the following: Cancel your July 11 fundraiser for Sen. Jim Inhofe and pledge to never fund climate deniers again. Google's motto is "Don't be evil," but today, Google is hosting a $250-$2,500 per plate fundraiser for one of the worst climate deniers in the world: Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK). Google was also the biggest donor to the Competitive Enterprise Institute's recent annual dinner, giving $50,000 to this anti-science group. Sen. Inhofe has claimed: "CO2 does not cause catastrophic disasters ... Actually, it would be beneficial to our environment and the economy." Google has been a corporate leader in fighting climate change pollution. Its chairman, Eric Schmidt, has said: "You can lie about the effects of climate change, but eventually you'll be seen as a liar." While the fundraiser is today, it is not too late to let Google know that its support for liars like Inhofe is a glaring mistake.
