T.G.I.F. For the Environment--Not always for the Democrat.

Take Action
Dear Readers, I am passing on this e-mail because the fight against Global Warming is indeed a Global fight, we all have a stake in the out come, because we all are responsible--therefore, we all must become part of the solution to the problem we Humans are causing:
One month after Superstorm Sandy, many communities in New York and New Jersey are still picking up the pieces, as we’ve all seen through the heartbreaking images on TV.

My heart goes out to the people who lost so much. I want to somehow make everything better for them, and I want to make our elected officials—starting with President Obama—finally tackle global warming with the urgency it requires, so that we guard against even more superstorms in the future.

Help us get 10,000 emails into President Obama this week, asking him to make tackling global warming a priority in his second term. And then forward this to your friends to help us hit our goal!

We know the president understands the link between global warming and extreme weather. He talked about it in his election night speech and in his first post-election news conference. But at that news conference, he went on to say “this one’s hard.”

The thing is, it shouldn’t be that hard. We have the clean energy technologies, and we have the public support. The only reason tackling global warming is hard is because of well-funded political opposition. Even the most modest steps provoke fierce resistance from the utilities and the coal and oil companies, and their political allies in Congress.

But with more Americans connecting the dots between global warming and extreme weather—and reading how Sandy alone inflicted tens of billions of dollars in damage—I believe we have a real opportunity to convince elected officials to finally get serious about
tackling global warming.

Let’s tell President Obama we don’t have to wait for more devastating storms. We’re ready for bold action now.

Send your message to President Obama today—and be sure to forward this to your friends so we can hit our goal of 10,000 emails by the end of the week.

Yours,

Margie Alt
Executive Director

Which is why I am also passing on this e-mail and why I am so glad that I am an Independent. After all, Republicans are not the only ones who do wrong or stupid things--sometimes the Democrats do them too. After all, looks like the Republicans may be right about Dr. Susan Rice, but for the Wrong Reason--This is why I am passing this e-mail on also-->
It's simple -- and outrageous.
This story just broke. And you can take action now to help make sure it doesn't go away.
"Susan Rice, the candidate believed to be favored by President Obama to become the next
Secretary of State, holds significant investments in more than a dozen Canadian oil companies and banks that would stand to benefit from expansion of the North American tar sands industry and construction of the proposed $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline," OnEarth Magazine reports. "If confirmed by the Senate, one of Rice’s first duties likely would be consideration, and potentially approval, of the controversial mega-project."

Did they think we wouldn't find out?

It's indefensible that Rice has millions of dollars invested in oil companies and banks that will make huge profits if the State Department gives approval to the XL pipeline.

As a high-ranking administration official -- and a potential replacement for Hillary Clinton early next year to run the State Department -- Susan Rice shouldn't have any stake in corporations that are doing all they can to plunder tar sands in Canada and send carbon emissions soaring even faster.

To demand that Rice immediately sell every dollar of stock in every one of those companies, click here.

The founder of
350.org, Bill McKibben, just told OnEarth Magazine: "It’s really amazing that they’re considering someone for Secretary of State who has millions invested in these companies. The State Department has been rife with collusion with the Canadian pipeline builders, and it’s really distressing to have any sense that that might continue to go on." We agree. It's amazing. And intolerable.

If you agree, you can help raise a ruckus by clicking here.

And please forward this email to kindred spirits.

World Bank: Climate Change Progress Urgently Needed -- Take Action

SmokestacksThe World Bank has called for urgent global action to address the climate crisis. In a report released last week, the international lender offered a snapshot of a world 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit warmer -- the worst-case scenario projected by the International Panel on Climate Change, possible as soon as 2060.

A warmer climate will produce record heat waves, rising sea levels, more severe and frequent tropical storms, droughts and floods, and irreversible biodiversity loss; effects will include extreme water scarcity, food shortages, increased poverty and impaired public health, according to the Bank's report.

Said Rachel Kyte, the Bank's vice president for sustainable development: "We hope this paper makes it more difficult for policymakers to ignore the science. The science is unequivocal."

Suit Filed to Speed Recovery of Mexican Gray Wolves in Southwest

Mexican gray wolfThe Center for Biological Diversity filed suit Wednesday challenging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's failure to respond to its 2004 petition. The Center called for implementation of sweeping reforms in the management of the Mexican gray wolf population in Arizona and New Mexico, which has grown by a scant three animals over the past eight years. Only 58 wolves remain in the wild today.

Recommendations from a scientific panel in 2001, which called for an immediate reduction in the number of wolves removed from the wild and an increase in the number released, have languished for 11 years even as the Service has repeatedly pledged to act on them. The wild wolves' genetic diversity has been compromised through inbreeding, likely leading to small litter sizes and reduced pup-survival rates.

"The only wild Mexican wolf population on Earth is stagnant, and losing irreplaceable genetic diversity, because the Fish and Wildlife Service is ignoring the pleas of scientists and stalling on vital reforms," said Michael Robinson, the Center's Mexican wolf specialist.

Arafat's remains exhumed for poison tests

A Palestinian woman walks past a mural depicting late leader Yasser Arafat (R) in Gaza City July 4, 2012. The Palestinian Authority agreed on Wednesday to the exhumation of Arafat's body after new allegations that he was poisoned with the radioactive element polonium-210 in 2004. REUTERS/Mohammed Salem

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Forensic experts took samples from Yasser Arafat's buried corpse in the West Bank on Tuesday, trying to determine if he was murdered by Israeli agents using the hard-to-trace radioactive poison, Polonium.
Palestinians witnessed the funeral of their hero and longtime leader eight years ago, but conspiracy theories surrounding his death have never been laid to rest.
Many are convinced their icon was the victim of a cowardly assassination, and may stay convinced whatever the outcome of this autopsy. But some in the city of Ramallah where he lies deplored the exhumation.
"This is wrong. After all this time, today they suddenly want to find out the truth?" said construction worker Ahmad Yousef, 31, who stopped to watch the disinterment, carried out behind a wall of blue plastic near the Palestinian presidency headquarters.
"They should have done it eight years ago," he said.
French magistrates in August opened a murder inquiry into Arafat's death in Paris in 2004 after a Swiss institute said it had discovered high levels of polonium on clothing of his which was supplied by his widow, Suha, for a television documentary. READ MORE!!

The question is If  Mr. Arafat was indeed murdered, by whom? By Israel or more extreme elements of Palestine? The question is--is there really anyone who is that impartial to get to the truth? After all, as sure as Israel has too much to lose if evidence goes against them, the very same thing can be said of the more extreme elements of Palestine. This is why this blogger has so many questions about whether the truth really can be found--as the old saying goes--Truth is the First casualty of War--and this war has been going on and on, since before Israel became a nation, again.

Fair Thee Well, Madam Secretary Hilary Clinton

President Obama Prepares for Cabinet Shuffle (ABC News)
As President Obama prepares for his second term, preparations have begun for the traditional shuffling of the Cabinet.
Top priority for the president: filling slots for those top officials heading - if not running - for the door: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner.
To replace Clinton, Democratic insiders suggest that U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Susan Rice is the front runner, with Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., also a viable candidate.

Personally,  between the two, I would chose Dr. Susan Rice. After all, as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., I believe she would be more knowledgeable on Foreign Policy than a Senator would be. Most especially since he's the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, but then again, that is only my 2 cents. I am more than willing to wait and see whom the President nominates.
I would Rather see Sen. John Kerry re-place Sec of the Treasury Tim Geithner.

BUT, FIRST AND FOREMOST--THANK YOU MADAM SECRETARY FOR ALL YOUR MANY YEARS OF SERVICE FROM FIRST LADY OF THE U.S.A. TO SENATOR TO SECRETARY OF STATE. ''Live Long and Prosper'', Indeed--as they say on the Planet, Vulcan.

The Fight for Ohio's Demorcacy and Environment.

Dear Readers, I am passing on this e-mail with the hope that anyone who can sign the petition will do so;
Going into Election Day, I just couldn't shake my fear that Republicans' efforts would deny the right to vote to thousands of voters in Ohio. I never want to feel that way again—no voter should.
I felt this way because of Ohio Secretary of State John Husted, who cut early voting, complicated the registration process, and forced voters to wait for hours to cast ballots on November 6.1 Thankfully, Secretary Husted's scheme didn't work. We won Ohio.
But as of Friday, Secretary Husted is still fighting against counting every legitimate ballot cast.2 That's why we're launching a campaign to remove Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted from office right away. Ohio has a process to remove a statewide official from office—but that can only happen if state legislators hear a massive public outcry.
We've got to move fast and get this off the ground before Secretary Husted and his allies can duck out of public view to begin planning their next voter intimidation plan.
Will you sign this petition to remove Secretary of State John Husted from office? It reads:
"Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted led a comprehensive assault on Ohioans' voting rights in 2012. It's time to remove him from office."
We beat Secretary Husted's suppression efforts with a huge get-out-the-vote campaign, ads and billboards that broke through the confusion, supporting lawsuits by the ACLU, Obama for America and other allies, and other tactics to let people know when and where to vote early.
We can use those tactics, and more, to show Secretary Husted as the face of a vote-suppressing regime that we never want to see again. As an elected official, he can only do his job with the public's permission. But if thousands of us quickly make it clear that we don't want him in charge of our elections, we could force him out.
Voters must never worry about whether they'll be able to vote, or their votes will be counted. Secretary Husted, who actively implemented schemes to undermine voters, is doing Ohio a disservice and and is unfit to serve.
Thanks for all you do.

The fight for clean energy
will go on

“The promise of Proposal 3 was great, and many of us worked very hard to help pass it, but Big Coal and the utility companies spent tens of millions of dollars on a misinformation campaign that left the voters confused and determined to simply say ‘no’ to anything that changed the Constitution,” according to Ecology Center director Michael Garfield. “At the end of the day, that spelled defeat for Proposal 3.”

Women exposed to hazardous chemicals at work are 42 percent more likely to develop breast cancer, study finds

A study released today (Nov. 19) in the journal Environmental Health found a statistically significant association between the increased risk of breast cancer among women who work in jobs where they are exposed to a "toxic soup" of chemicals.

After all, from Nov of 2004 to Dec of 2010, I worked at a Cleaning Service and used the cleaning supplies that I was told to use, without having the privilege of knowing what was the chemical make up of them nor the privilege of Health Care. Looks like that was one advantage of me supplying my own cleaning supplies toward the end, when I was "self-employed", but collecting a paycheck from these Holy Ghost Filled Christian Tax Dodgers--a.k.a. my former bosses.

Monday's Calls to Action.

Dear Reader, I am passing this on, because I am a firm believer that it is far better that we support each other, RATHER THAN 'Bully' each other.
The students at my high school need your help. I'm a 16-year-old junior at Celina High School -- a public high school in northwest Ohio. We're trying to make our school more accepting and safe for gay students, but the administration won't let us.
Recently, 20 students tried to fight homophobia by wearing homemade t-shirts to school that said things like "Straight but Supportive" and "I Support [Rainbow]." Our Vice Principal told students that they had to stop wearing the shirts or face suspension.
I'm straight, but I think it's wrong that my school is discriminating against gay students and suppressing students' rights to express our opinions.
We all know that anti-gay bullying is a serious problem. In the past few years, we have seen so many kids tragically take their own lives because they were bullied for being gay or perceived to be gay.
I think it's crazy that at my school, it's not the kids doing the bullying. It's the adults who are supposed to be our leaders and role models.
Well I'm not going to take it anymore. Other kids have gotten their schools to allow Gay-Straight Alliances after they started petitions on Change.org -- I know that if enough people sign my petition, my school administrators will cease their shameful behavior and create an environment that is supportive for all students, not just straight ones.
Thank you,
Erick Warner
Celina, OH

Dear Readers, I am passing on this e-mail also, because the European Union has the Right Idea about fighting Climate Change--A Cause We Americans should be fighting also--NOT THE EUROPEAN UNION;

On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that forbids U.S. airlines from taking part in a European Union program designed to reduce global warming pollution from aviation. It’s misguided legislation that protects the financial interests of airlines instead of reducing the carbon pollution causing climate change.

The legislation now moves to President Obama, who will decide this week whether to fight back against this misguided bill.

Take Action: Urge President Obama to use his veto power and support actions to reduce pollution from aviation.

During his post-election victory speech, President Obama told our nation that “we want our children to live in an America that… isn't threatened by the destructive power of a warming planet.” It’s a promising sign that he is ready to deliver the kind of climate leadership Americans are looking for, especially in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, the latest example of climate change’s growing influence on extreme weather.

Pushing back against this bill would be a concrete first step to delivering a safer future for our children.

Take Action Today: Tell President Obama to fight back against Congress and tackle climate change.

The rest of the world is looking for a signal that the United States is serious about tackling pollution from aviation, one of the fastest-growing sources of global warming. President Obama has a number of tools he could use to push back against this anti-climate bill, but the clearest signal would be stopping it in its tracks. By vetoing the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme Prohibition Act, President Obama can show that he is ready to take real steps to tackle climate change over the next four years.

Sincerely,

Sunday's Post--My Confession and More.

After reading Chapter 33-'freddy, please--of the book 'The Cross in the Closet' --I confess that Mr. Timothy Kurek attitude toward the Religious Right is indeed more Christian than my own. After all, I yield far too easily to my Eastern European/German temper far too easily. Just because they act like judge, juries and executioners of God's Holiness and if they have the right to--that is indeed no reason to curse them out.

After all, as sure as Westboro Baptist Church is Wrong to have the banner--"God Hates America" the rest of America should not have the banner--"God Hates Westboro Baptist Church" which becomes all too tempting to do, After reading their banner.  But yet, two WRONGS Do Not Make A Right.

But, Yet, I can not help but notice the Double Standard--How Shook up some Right Wing Christians got when Pastor Wright said--"God Damn America" but yet, If it was not for this book I would not have know about Westboro Church banner--"God Hates America" and the even have gone as far as-->Godhatesamerica.com. --WHERE IS THE PROTEST??? WELL, THANKFULLY THERE IS NOT--AFTER ALL, PROTESTING WILL NOT SOLVE A THING--NOT A SINGLE THING--As Mr. Timothy Kurek pointed out--WHAT WE NEED IS A DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING FOR THE SALVATION OF Westboro Baptist Church and For the Baptist Denomination--that their heart become softened to their fellow man.

This is also why I feel so Blessed to be a Member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church of the ELCA.
After all, we began our service with-->P) "Blessed be the holy Trinity, +one God, clothed in majesty ever since the world began, who loves us and frees us from our sins, who leads us with all the saints to everlasting life".--(C)"Amen". . . .

After all, It is Indeed Pure Hypocrisy to condemn Moderate Muslims for not standing up to the Islamic Extremist, while We Christian Moderates Stand By and Do Nothing About Christian Extremist--Such As those Who Are Members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

If Only--If Only We Christians Would Believe and Live by the Words of the Apostle's Creed--

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

After all--ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD--NO ONE IS HOLY ENOUGH NOR RIGHTEOUS ENOUGH TO JUDGE ANYONE--BUT PORTRAYING GOD THE FATHER AS AN HATEFUL GOD IS WRONG--After all, does not John 3:16 begin with God So LOVED The World . . .
THIS--THIS IS WHY INSTEAD OF LOSING MY TEMPER--I CONFESS--I HAVE TO LEARN TO PRAY FOR THOSE WHO NEED PRAYER.  AFTER ALL, MY LOSING MY TEMPER IS JUST AS WRONG AS OTHER FORMS OF JUDGMENT.

T.I.G.F.--Fight Day--Part II

Dear Readers, I am passing this e-mail on, because the Election may be over, but this fight for our Economy is not;
Republicans, led by House Speaker John Boehner, want to scare Americans into accepting yet another extension of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% and deep cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. So they've created a "fiscal cliff" boogeyman.
Yes, We can Grow Ourselves out of This Recession by supporting the Middle Class--It is the Middle Class that is the True Back Bone of Society--The proof of that is Look at the Third World Countries who do not have a Middle Class, but only extreme rich and poor--So much for Rich being the 'Job Creators'.
Unfortunately, if you're following the media story, you may believe Republican claims that the world's about to end. But the only thing going off a cliff on December 31 is the ability of Republicans to hold our economy hostage for the sake of the rich (read below to find out why!).
That's why we have to spread the truth, so our friends and family don't fall for the Republican myth about the fiscal cliff. We've put together a 5-point guide on what this fiscal showdown is really all about. Check it out and then share it on Facebook or Twitter, or just forward this email.
  1. The "Fiscal Cliff" Is A Myth. As Paul Krugman put it, "The looming prospect of spending cuts and tax increases isn't a fiscal crisis. It is, instead, a political crisis brought on by the G.O.P.'s attempt to take the economy hostage."1 Republicans are manufacturing this crisis to pressure Democrats to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and accept painful cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

  2. The Bush Tax Cuts Finally End December 31. If Congress does nothing, the ax will fall on all the Bush tax cuts on New Year's Eve.2 Then, on January 1, the public pressure on John Boehner and House Republicans to extend the middle-class tax cuts (already passed by the Senate and waiting to be signed by President Obama) will become irresistible.3 So the middle-class tax cut will eventually get renewed, and we'll have $823 billion more revenue from the top 2% to do great things with.4

  3. The Sequester. The sequester is another political creation, forced on Democrats by Republicans in exchange for lifting the debt ceiling last year to avoid crashing our economy.5 It's a set of cuts (50% to a bloated military budget and 50% to important domestic programs) designed to make both Republicans and Democrats hate it so much that they'd never let it happen.6 And the cuts can be reversed weeks or months into 2013 without causing damage.7

  4. The Big Three. Nothing happens to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits on January 1—unless Republicans force painful cuts to beneficiaries in exchange for tax increases on the wealthy, which are going to happen anyway if Congress does NOTHING.8 So, there's literally no reason benefits cuts should be part of the discussion right now.

  5. We Should Be Talking About Jobs. The real crisis Americans want Congress to fix is getting people back to work. And with just a fraction of that $823 billion from the wealthiest 2%, we could create jobs for more than 20,000 veterans and pay for the 300,000 teachers and 52,000 first responders, which our communities so desperately need.9 That's not to mention jobs from investing in clean energy and our national infrastructure.

YES--WE SHOULD BE TALKING JOBS--MIDDLE CLASS JOBS WITH A LIVABLE WAGES!!!
NO--WE SHOULD NOT BE TALKING BUDGET CUTS ONLY--IT IS THE HEIGHT OF INJUSTICE TO MAKE THE POOR PAY FOR THE TAX CUTS OF THE RICH!

Please share this with your friends and family—and talk about it at the dinner table next week. The first step to winning this showdown is making sure we're all armed with the facts.
Thanks for all you do.

Ohio could defund Planned Parenthood

The latest attack on Planned Parenthood is happening in Ohio.
Even after a presidential election where Ohio voters clearly voted no on the Republican War on Women, Republicans in the Ohio House are still trying to pass a bill to deny Planned Parenthood the funding it needs to serve women in some parts of Ohio.
The bill has already passed out of a House committee, on party lines. Now it will head to the House floor, where legislators will have the chance to vote on it.1 We need to make sure that every member of the Ohio State House, no matter whether they are Republican or Democrat, pro-choice or anti-choice, hears that Ohioans oppose any attempt to defund Planned Parenthood.
Anti-choice representatives need to know their constituents vehemently disagree with their stand. And pro-choice representatives need to know we have their back.
Tell Ohio legislators: Vote against HB 298. Don't play politics with women's lives and defund health care for Ohio women. Send a free fax to your legislator now.
Each year, Planned Parenthood in Ohio receives over a million dollars in Department of Health funds to provide critical health care services for over 100,000 low-income women, like affordable birth control, prenatal care, cancer screenings, family planning services, and services for survivors of domestic violence.2
This is not about abortion. It's about denying women access to crucial health care services. Defunding Planned Parenthood in Ohio would jeopardize cancer prevention screenings, STI care, hypertension testing, and many of the preventative measures the organization provides to low-income women.3
The attacks on Planned Parenthood are part and parcel of a national extremist vendetta against the organization, and the women who depend on its clinics for basic care. Anti-choice organizations, politicians and activists are relentless, and they are conducting a state-by-state campaign to undermine Planned Parenthood in state legislatures around the country, no matter what the cost to women's health.
Don't let the national campaign against Planned Parenthood take health care away from low-income Ohio women.

I Confess I am Suppose to Be Faxing this--NOT Posting--BUT I HAVE NEITHER A Printer NOR Access to a Fax machine--Yes, This Blog is That Low Tech of an Operation. I am hoping that Posting can and will raise awareness also.
The Question Becomes IF-IF the State of Ohio is So Pro-Life Then Why-Oh WHY 'Frack' Away Our Water??? Don't Anyone In the State Government Understand that People Can Not Live With Out Water To Drink?!?!?!? THIS--THIS IS HOW THE SO-CALLED PRO-LIFER'S HAVE EARNED THE NAME OF ANTI-CHOICE--IF THEY TRULY WERE PRO-LIFE THEN THEY WOULD KEEP ON DEFENDING LIFE EVEN AFTER THE BIRTH.

After all, We Women Are Fighting For Our Lives.
