Harry Sinclair Lewis (February 7, 1885 – January 10, 1951) was an American novelist, short-story writer, and playwright. In 1930, he became the first writer from the United States to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, "for his vigorous and graphic art of description and his ability to create, with wit and humor, new types of characters." His works are known for their insightful^{[citation needed]} and critical views of American society and capitalist values, as well as for their strong characterizations of modern working women.
He has been honored by the U.S Postal Service with a Great Americans series postage stamp.

Mr. Sinclair Lewis may have died in 1951, but-IMO-his words are even more true today than they were then. Those words capture, IMO, the truest picture of the effect of the Tea Party Movement has had on the Republican Party far more than all the modern pundits put together. Now I only wish I knew which one of his many books that that quote was found in, regardless I now have an additional New Year's Resolution--to read at least one of his books, cover to cover. After all, between the Religious Right and Republican Party, he has indeed been proven a true Genius, IMO.

But, then, again, there is more to this blog than just politics. There is the hope and prayer of doing good, whether it is feeding the hungry by assisting on the job search-after all, I have been unemployed and underemployed and even on Welfare--a.k.a. U.S. Government Assistance, which is how and why I can say that they all have one thing in common--They Suck compared to have a good honest job, working up a sweet is far better than each and everyone of them.
IMO, doing good is more than just dollars, even though they are needed to buy food, clothing, shelter and pay bills. There is also, if not more importantly the environment, without which life on this planet could not exist or continue to exist. This is why I became an active member of Care 2 and why I have passed on Care 2 links. Now it has come to my attention that this fine fine organization has been hacked, not once but twice. I can only hope and pray that this blog was not the link that the hackers used to do it. I can only hope and pray that if anybody reading this knows anything about who may have had been responsible that they report it to the proper authorities or even to Care 2.

Men of Strength: Young Men Learn They Can Help Stop Rape

                         S o often when I write about issues here at Care2 they are depressing, but today I have a treat for all of you. An afterschool program called Men of Strength (MOST) is teaching boys that they can be part of the movement to end violence against women. 
Men Can Stop Rape is the Washington based organization behind the MOST programs that are taught in over 100 schools in over 10 states including California, District of Columbia, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, New York City, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina.
The program aims to:

• Provide young men with a safe, supportive space to connect with male peers
• Promote an understanding of the ways in which traditional masculinity contributes to sexual assault and other forms of men’s violence against women
• Expose young men to healthier, nonviolent models/visions of manhood
• Build young women’s capacity to become peer leaders and allies with women
• Serve as a hub for social justice activism and nonviolence

What do the boys in program have to say about it?
“My active involvement in this revolutionary program has been the sole catalyst for my maturation into a self-aware and confident young man.”
“MOST Club has done wonders for me. I have a newfound respect for women and what they go through. I learned about the things that males do that are harmful to women everywhere. I now think of a woman as my partner and no more as an object.”

MOST Club has helped me greatly in life by giving me the ability to look at people and relationships in a different way. Now I am more aware of what it means for men and women to have respectful relationships with each other. What an incredible program! So much of the discussion around rape centers on women and girls. It’s about time a program specifically targets boys and brings young men into the picture to help prevent sexual violence.
If young men had full respect for women and saw them as partners rather than objects, as these young men shared MOST programs have taught them, would we still live in a world where 1 in 5 women are raped in their lifetime?
I certainly don’t think so.

And doing good is also the aim of this blogger. Even More Importantly, I could not bear to end the post on a down note. Hopefully and Prayerfully, with clubs like this the crime of rape will become a thing of the past. Hopefully and Prayerfully, there will come a day, when all people, male and female, young and old of all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, color, religion and sexual preference can walk the streets where they live, regardless of where they live, without fear.
P.S. It is also my great hope that more and more people come this way, Hopefully and Prayerfully like what they read. After all, I must plead guilty to being something of a people pleaser, also.
