Thursday's Action--Justice & IN MEMORY OF Mrs. Ada Sharpton

today's action Read More About Trayvon Martin's Killing

There's a growing outrage over the killing of Trayvon Martin, a black 17-year old from Sanford, Florida who was shot by a white neighborhood watch volunteer. George Zimmerman, the man who shot Trayvon, claims he was defending himself. But evidence is building that that wasn't the case and that Trayvon -- who was visiting his father's girlfriend in the Florida gated community -- was running away from Zimmerman.
Despite this tragic incident, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has pushed for more states to pass so-called 'Stand Your Ground' laws, which say someone can shoot someone in 'self-defense' and prosecutors have little to no way to call them to account.
For today's Daily Action, learn more about 'Stand Your Ground' laws and see what others are saying about the Trayvon Martin case.    http://www.care2.com/dailyaction/primary.html?da%5Btoday%5D=2012-03-22

Yet Young Trayvon Martin's Murderer George Zimmerman is still walking free! Why; according to the Chief of Police--there is a lack of evidence. (Never mind the detail that the Police did not look for any evidence) After all, all they (the police) have are 911 tapes from witnesses who called because they heard the commotion, Trayvon Martin's girlfriend who also heard what happened they were on the cells together, the character witnesses of his teachers in contrast to the police record and history of all too many 911 calls from his killer.  All in All that is not enough evidence to prove that the White man was in the wrong. After all, Florida--where the first Cowboys came from along with the Cowboy Justice (Shoot first; Ask questions later)--is in the South, where White makes Right. A.k.a--anything and everything White men do can become Justified. Which was and is Wrong!  This Must Change! This In-Justice in the United States MUST CHANGE WHETHER THE NRA LIKES IT OR NOT.  THIS MUST CHANGE WHETHER THE KKK LIKES IT OR NOT. THIS MUST CHANGE WHETHER THE GOP (Grand Old Party--otherwise known as the Republican Party) LIKES IT OR NOT.

The 'Stand Your Ground' Law, also known as 'Make My Day' Law, since all too often, it gives people the legal right to play 'tough guy' and the legal right to Be Judge--Jury--Executioner!!!!!!

Change has come. After over a million signatures on various petitions, after the out cry. and after-->
America is waking up to the injustice of Trayvon Martin's murder by self-styled vigilante George Zimmerman, and the fact that lack of action against Trayvon's killer adds to an already-existing culture of impunity for the targeting of young men of color.
USA Today has an excellent primer and rundown on the case and its implications, quoting Mark Neal, who is  professor of African and African American Studies at Duke University. "It's not about these individual acts of racism," Neal told the paper.  "It's about the way that black males are framed in the larger culture … as being violent, criminal and threats to safety and property."    Read more
