Dear Readers, please help me convince Governor Kasich of my home State of Ohio that Ohioans health matter as much as him keeping his job, actually matter even more than him keeping his jobs. After all, his job is only his job, this health care money that he claims we do not need is a matter of life and death for all too many Ohioan who do not yet have health care--Yet, Governor Kasich Claims that he is the 'Pro-Life' Governor--THIS IS HOW 'PRO-LIFE' HE REALLY IS--NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;

Governor John Kasich has not officially made a decision on whether he will accept new federal dollars to expand the state's Medicaid program. 

If he rejects these funds, nearly 700,000 Ohioans will be uninsured. 

That's why I created a petition on SignOn.org to Governor John Kasich, which says:

More than 14% of Ohio residents don't have health insurance, including many children. 

By rejecting Medicaid expansion funds from the federal government, you are hurting nearly 700,000 Ohioans who would benefit from it. 

Please accept the federal Medicaid dollars and help Ohioans in need.

For my part, I am planning a trip to the library to print this petition up and to canvus my neighborhood for signatures on my next day off, since this looks like and all day project.

PETITION TO SUPPORT POLICIES TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE

On December 14, 2012 20 first grade students at Sandy Hill Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut and six teachers were gunned down by a 20 year old man with a semi-automatic rifle and multiple ammunition magazines that held up to 30 bullets each.

The tragedy at Sandy Hook reminds us that:

§  Approximately 30,000 Americans die each year at the end of a gun

§  70,000 Americans are shot but survive each year

§  America has the highest rate of private gun ownership among developed nations

§  America also has the highest rates of gun injury and deaths among developed nations

We believe it is possible to keep guns away from dangerous and prohibited people without infringing on the rights of legal gun owners to keep and bear arms.  We also believe it is necessary to further regulate guns in order to reduce the thousands of shootings that take place each year in communities throughout our nation.

Therefore, we urge you to support the following policies recommended by Vice President Biden’s commission on gun violence, including:

§  Universal Background checks on all guns sold    

§  A ban on the sale of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds    

§  Additional resources to provide mental health services to Americans    

§  Additional financial support for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), which is charged with monitoring firearms crime and federal firearms dealers

§  Renewed funding for research into the causes and effects of gun violence by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and other designated research centers
