Thursday Post Begins and Ends With Our Environment

Here's a frightening look at what a Romeny-Ryan ticket looks like for the environment and our future. READ MORE»

The GOP's True the Vote project is a well-funded scheme with training sessions for activists across the country. Will it work?
Steven Rosenfeld / AlterNet
True the Vote is a voting vigilante group that never should have grown past its Texas cowboy-meets-Tea Party justice roots. Its top leaders have a jaunty, string ‘em up, guilty-until-proven-innocent mindset. They represent the most extreme views on the Right when it comes to voting—that the process is filled with corruption that is bound to be exploited by local political bosses and machines, which, of course, are Democratic. Where liberals see that a third of all eligible voters in America do not vote and want to make the process more accessible, the Right believes to do so would mean the end of America as they know it. They think it’s patriotic to be self-appointed judges, juries and if necessary, citizen police, to stop what they believe is rampant illegal voting. READ MORE»

THE REPUBLICAN ARE AFRAID THAT THE ONE AND ONLY WAY THEY CAN 'WIN' THIS ELECTION IS BY STEALING IT FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

One thing that I hate to do is to end a blog--day's posting on a negative note. Most especially, when there is positive action that is needed. After all, as the saying goes--Action Speaks Louder than words

The course of Action that I am asking for you to join me in, that is if you have not already, is-->

Dear Readers, I am passing on this e-mail for your consideration;

So far this cycle, my race in Ohio has been the #1 Senate target for far-right special interest groups, which have spent more than $15 million against me with more coming.

It's an unprecedented amount of spending, and we all know why it's happening this year -- the Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United has unleashed a torrent of special interest cash, and brought the corruptive influence of corporate money down on our democracy.

That's why I've teamed up with the DSCC and Democrats across the country to overturn the effects of this decision by building momentum to pass a constitutional amendment.
380,522 of you have joined the fight to end Citizens United by signing our petition. But we need to keep that momentum going strong. And since we're only about 10 weeks away from Election Day, I want to add 10,000 more signers to our effort right now.

Click here to sign the petition, and show your support for overturning Citizens United and getting corporate money out of our elections.

The process of passing a constitutional amendment is painstakingly slow, and requires that we continue to apply strong pressure.

With your help, I know we can get this done. Thank you for joining Senate Democrats and me in the fight to overturn Citizens United.

After all, the alternative to Re-Electing Sherrod Brown is Electing Josh Mandel--Why Not Josh Mandel, among the many reasons--There Is Also-->

Dear Readers, I am passing this e-mail on from THE LEAGUE OF CONSERVATIONIST VOTERS;

Did you see the front page of today’s Cleveland Plain Dealer?
It’s right there, in black and white: Ohio Senate candidate Josh Mandel is proudly proclaiming that he’s a climate change denier.
This is what’s at stake in this year’s election – and why it’s so important that we re-elect a Senator Sherrod Brown.
In this article, Mandel says that climate science “is inconclusive and riddled with fraud” – blatantly ignoring the fact there is now overwhelming scientific consensus on global warming.
But the sad truth is that this kind of anti-environmental rhetoric from Mandel is not new. Throughout this campaign, he has attacked various environmental safeguards and clean air protections. He’s even labeled those of us who support such policies as “radical.”
Conversely, Senator Brown has an LCV lifetime environmental score of 93 percent. He has repeatedly supported clean energy policies that reduce harmful pollution and bring new green jobs to Ohio.
The Ohio Senate race is one of the most competitive in the country. Pro-oil interest groups, like Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS, have already spent millions attacking Senator Brown. We may not be able to match Rove’s millions, but we can help ensure that Senator Brown has the resources to get his message out to voters across the state. Please chip in today.
          Thanks for your continued support.
