Stand Up for the Girl Scouts!! |
Many of us and our friends, daughters and mothers have had wonderful experiences with Girl Scouts of the USA. The organization has a long history of helping young girls to develop independence and self-confidence.
But recently the organization has come under fire from an Indiana state representative who, after doing a "a small amount of web-based research" has accused the Girl Scouts of being a "radicalized organization."
The truth is that all the Girl Scouts has ever been guilty of is providing a safe and accepting place for girls to have fun and grow into intelligent and self-confidence young women. For today's Daily Action, learn more about the controversy and stand up for the Girl Scouts!
Somehow it should come to no surprise that the Girl Scouts would need defending, but they do. From whom; who else, but the 'Social Conservatives of the Holy Republican Party', who are IMO the worst thing to ever happen to Christianity, since Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. After all, this non-stop thou shalt believe--thou shalt believe as we tell you to believe or else, does far more to drive people away from Jesus than to Jesus. I know, because for a time I was stuck working for a "Holy Ghost Filled Pain it the Ass' Social Conservative Republican', who did so much lying, cheating and stealing, that she became the living breathing question mark--"Did any actual factual Blessing truly rain down From Heaven????? or was that just 'Divine B.S. set to con people into believing the Bible?"
What absolutely amazes me is how much they condemn the Tali ban, but yet stive to do the same exact things that the Tali ban would do. After all, both groups are into limiting a woman's freedom.
The Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) is a youth organization for girls in the United States and American girls living abroad. It describes itself as "the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls".[2] It was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 and was organized after Low met Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, in 1911.[3] Upon returning to Savannah, Georgia, she made her historic telephone call to a distant cousin, saying, "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!"[4]
GSUSA aims to empower girls and to help teach values such as honesty, fairness, courage, compassion, character, sisterhood, confidence, and citizenship through activities including camping, community service, learning first aid, and earning badges by acquiring other practical skills. Girl Scouts' achievements are recognized through rank advancement and by various special awards. Girl Scouts welcomed girls with disabilities early in their history, at a time when they were not included in most other activities.[4]
Membership is organized according to grade with activities designed appropriately for each level. The GSUSA is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), and has an extensive history of accepting girls from any backgrounds.
In 1994, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, an industry publication, released the results of the largest study of charitable and non-profit organization popularity and credibility. The study showed that the Girl Scouts was ranked as the 8th "most popular charity/non-profit in America" of over 100 charities researched with 41% of Americans over the age of 12 choosing Love and Like A Lot for the Girl Scouts.[5]

Catholic Food Shelf Rejects Food From Planned Parenthood

A Green Bay, Wisconsin Catholic food pantry would rather see people go hungry than accept 50 lbs of donated food from Planned Parenthood.
As part of its Martin Luther Kind food drive, Planned Parenthood collected the food to donate to Paul’s Pantry, a Catholic food shelf whose entire mission is to feed the hungry. Lisa Boyce, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin said, What was told to me was that they simply said we do not want any food donations from you period.”

Dear Lord, Have Mercy, The Religious Right has got to give too many of the Christian Churches back to Jesus. After all, Did not Jesus say that--Those who are not against us are for us.
The war on 'Women's Rights' at the cost of everything else must end, because-at the end of the day, it does the Gospel of Jesus Christ the most harm, by making Him look like an Indifferent Liar, instead of the One who loved us so much that He died for us. He died and rose again, so that we can live--not so that we can stand in judgment of each other.
Excuse that rant, but with so many hungry families of working poor parents, for any church to turn down donations--donations that could have fed many children, because a small part of Planned Parenthood is abortion, Is Absolutely Appalling and worst of all it is a slap in Jesus' face, because that is not His Gospel of caring for the poor.
