Don't Let Congress Allow Student Loan Interest Rates to Double on July 1

Paying for college has never been more difficult. Since the 1980s, tuition and fees have swelled by more than 500 percent! As if these skyrocketing costs weren't enough, interest rates on some federal student loans are scheduled to DOUBLE this Sunday. And only Congress can stop it.
But after weeks of discussion, legislators on Capitol Hill have yet to act, leaving the college careers of more than 7 million students at risk. With only a few days left, rumors are flying in the press about a potential deal. But rumors are no comfort for students like Clarise McCants, who cannot afford the rate increase.
"Even with grants and scholarships, I still have to rely on loans to pay for college," she says. "If my interest rate doubles, it'll take me even longer to dig my way out of debt after I graduate."
Congress needs to finalize its deal NOW. For today's Daily Action, help fight this rate increase by telling them to finish the job: Stop student-loan interest rates from doubling on July 1.

After all, the Middle Class is the True Backbone of Society, without a College Education, we are setting workers up to earn minimum wage for the rest of their lives. There Working Poor can do very little, their bosses use and abuse them for their companies gain, BUT at the cost of Society. Keeping their wages down may make their Greedy Bosses Money, But without spendable money/limited spendable money then these minimum wage workers cannot afford to also be consumers, which limits the costumer base of every other business around.
THESE GREEDY BUSINESSES NEED TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE--AFTER ALL, WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THE BEST PRODUCT AT THE LOWEST COST--IF NOBODY CAN AFFORD TO BUY IT--WHAT GOOD IS ANY PRODUCT IF ALL THAT WILL HAPPEN IF IT IS JUST LEFT IN A WAREHOUSE TO COLLECT DUST. THE SAME THING IS TRUE FOR SERVICES--WHAT GO IS THERE TO HAVE THE CHEAPEST SHOE SHINING OR CLEANING OR LANDSCAPING SERVICE--IF NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THE PERSON CAN DO FOR THEMSELVES FOR FREE!!!

The Cat’s Out Of The Bag: One Republican Admits Voter ID Laws Are Meant to Suppress Democrats

This weekend, Pennsylvania Republican House Leader Mike Turzai (R-PA) finally admitted what so many have speculated: Voter identification efforts are meant to suppress Democratic votes in this year’s election.
At the Republican State Committee meeting, Turzai took the stage and let slip the truth about why Republicans are so insistent on voter identification efforts — it will win Romney the election, he said:

“We are focused on making sure that we meet our obligations that we’ve talked about for years,” said Turzai in a speech to committee members Saturday. He mentioned the law among a laundry list of accomplishments made by the GOP-run legislature.

“Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”
