Current House of Reps Most Anti-Green in History

A new report  finds that the current House of Representatives is the most anti-environmental in US history, having voted 247 times to undermine environmental and health protection in the last 18 months. Nearly one in five of the 1,100 legislative roll call votes so far this Congress – 19% – were votes to undermine environmental protection. While this is a record, it is by no means a new trend that the Republicans in the House vote consistently against environmental protection.
The report, prepared by the Democratic staff of the Energy and Commerce Committee, also found that the oil and gas industry has been the largest beneficiary of the anti-environment  House votes.  The House has voted 109 times on legislation that would enrich the oil and gas industry, including 45 votes to weaken environmental, public health, and safety requirements applicable to the oil industry, 38 votes to prevent deployment of clean energy alternatives, and 12 votes to expedite review of the Keystone XL pipeline.
“House Republicans are putting the interests of oil companies and other big polluters over the health and safety of Americans and their families,” said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member.  “They have voted to reverse decades of efforts to ensure that families have clean air to breath and clean water to drink.  They have voted to deny the science of climate change, defund investments in clean energy, and open vast areas to new oil drilling.  The assault on the environment has been relentless and reckless and would make our country more polluted and less productive.”

I Dare--I Double Dare--Anyone and Everyone who claims to be a Loyal American to Read the evidence to Prove me wrong. After all, It is the Stand of this Blog, that we cannot nor should not sacrifice our environment, because we cannot do so without also sacrificing America and ourselves or our future. Is not all the debris that are washing to American and Canadian shores from the Japanese Mega-Disaster enough evidence of how we all are interconnected, not only economically, but most especially environmentally.
If this is True-Then Every Representative who cannot nor will not protect our Environment=our lives=our future; should be voted out of office. We need to wake up and smell the coffee, corporate greed is short term gain at a long term price and long term cost.

Pregnant and Parenting Students Need a Champion

The Pregnant and Parenting Students Access to Education Act is already pending in the House (H.R. 2617), but we need a Senator to step up to the plate and introduce it in the Senate. Will one of your Senators be the champion we are looking for?

The Pregnant and Parenting Students Access to Education Act (PPSAE) would provide a framework and resources to states and school districts to ensure that pregnant and parenting students have equal access to educational opportunities. It would enable states to create a plan for the education of pregnant and parenting students, provide professional development and technical assistance to school districts, coordinate services with other state agencies, and disseminate information, among other activities.

For today's Daily Action, ask each of your Senators to become a lead sponsor of the Pregnant and Parenting Students Access to Education Act. Pregnant and parenting students have a lot on the line -- they need to know our leaders support them.

It is also the stand of this blog--that the best way to end Abortion is Not by outlawing it, but by curbing the demand. The more birth control is supported and adoption and support given to all who chose to keep and raise the child; all add up to the same thing fewer abortions. After all, simply going around and yelling and screaming--'Thou Shalt Not-Thou Shalt Not!!!' DOES NOT SOLVE A THING--IT CREATES MORE PROBLEMS THAN EVEN COMING CLOSE TO SOLVING!!! WE DO NOT NEED LAWS--WE NEED COMPASSION--WE NEED TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE, NOT SUPPORTING TEEN MOMS WILL DO FAR MORE TO CREATE A NEW DEMAND FOR ABORTIONS THAN ANYTHING ELSE--PUNISHMENT FOR GETTING PREGNANT DOES NOT SOLVE ANYTHING--MOST ESPECIALLY ABORTIONS.
After all, the bottom line is the more we decrease the demand for abortions, the fewer the abortions and the less it matter whether or not it is legal or not--BUT IF WE MAKE BELIEVE THAT WE CAN END IT SIMPLY BY OUT-LAWING IT--THEN WE SET THE STAGE FOR ILLEGAL ABORTIONS TO MAKE A COME BACK--WHERE NEITHER THE MOTHER OR CHILD COME OUT ALIVE--THIS JUDGMENT THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT MAY FIND FITTING--BUT THIS BLOGGER IS CALLING FOR COMPASSION FOR THE MOTHER'S ALSO--NOT JUST JUDGMENT AND CONDEMNATION. AFTER ALL, THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST SHOULD BE MORE ABOUT COMPASSION AND LESS ABOUT CONDEMNATION.
