Solar Eclipse Visible From California to Texas Sunday Afternoon

If you live in a band across the southwestern United States, twilight will seem to come early on Sunday afternoon, well before the sun actually sets.

The cause: a rare annular solar eclipse -- a ring of sunlight as the new moon, passing between Earth and the sun, blocks most, but not all, of the sun's disc.

This is not the kind of total eclipse of which you usually see pictures -- the moon blocking the sun completely, creating a few moments of near-night in the middle of the day, with only the sun's ethereal corona visible around the moon's edges. The sky will darken a bit, but there will still be a blindingly bright ring (an "annulus" in Latin) of sun, and it's dangerous to look directly at it.

Still, there will be a striking sight to see, if you look at a heavily-filtered image projected onto a screen through binoculars or a small telescope, or protect your eyes with No. 14 arcwelders glass (not something found at most hardware stores). . . .

This sounds like it should be interesting, but the question is Will It actually be seen in Ohio, where I live? This brings up another question, who else might miss this Scientific event?

Well, of course, we the People of the United States have to petition congress to end Subsides to these 'Big Businesses'. After all, the Republican Party is the majority party in the House of Representatives and these 'Big Businesses' are the ones who most richly fund the Conservative PACs which buy the ads that do the most attacks against those who defend the Environment--such as Ohio's Sen. Sherrod Brown and President Obama.

What we really need to do is to Tax Oil, Tax Coal and Tax Gas; in order to subsidize alternative energy such as solar and wind power--Until they become self-sufficient.

Ever since President George W. Bush created a massive loophole in the Clean Water Act in 2002, mining companies have been able to dump their toxic and dangerous mining waste directly into the waters we all rely on.

We are indeed stewards of the land, water and air, but we Humans have a long dark history of being more Greedy of gain than Responsible for save guarding them for future generations--This Must Change--We must be on constant guard not to yield to the temptation of Greed.

We Humans are still inventors--we can invent ways of generating the energy we need to power our societies, without destroying our home planet--we can and we must.
